Javier and Evangeline's Wedding

This past weekend we attended the beautiful and God-honoring wedding of Javier and Evangeline.

The front of the church

A radiant bride

The had candle light lanterns along the whole aisle

Bride and Groom

Instead of having all bridemaids, she had the "five wise virgins" who held lamps (with oil)--as in the parable Jesus taught of the five wise virgins.

The reception hall, so beautifully decorated and very Christmassy (sp?).

Lighted trees behind the buffet table

Emily and her friend Annie Kate

The "groom's cake"--a three-layer cake that was moist, rich with caramel in between with chocolate frosting and drizzled with caramel. Delectable!

Bride and groom hands

They are the sweetest and most fun couple, laughing heartily with their guests.

When Evangeline went to visit some friends (and ended up meeting Javier) she learned how to contra dance (line dancing). Ever since then she's loved it and definitely wanted it at her wedding. Everybody was more than happy to oblige.

Evangeline and her Dad.

Carter and I. Sorry it's blurry but it was a dark room. This is one line of people, and there was awhole other line dancing next to us. Almost everyone in the room danced. Definitely had my 30 minutes of cardio!

Apologetics Conference

Earlier in November a group from our church went to the SES Apologetics conference in Charlotte North Carolina.

D'nesh D'souza. He was one of my favorite speakers, first for his wonderful teaching and second for his totally cool name.

We stayed at a church nearby and here is a funny sign there. lol

This is the solution when you have a fresh cup of hot tea that you haven't finished drinking yet and the sanctuary won't allow drinks.

Anika

Alec and Carter look like they're planning something...uh oh It turned out to be throwing grapes at people.

The last night we went to a debate between D'nesh D'souza and atheist Christopher Hitchens. The actual debate wasn't great because they agreed on most things (muslims, mainly surrounding the shooting at Ft. Hood) but afterwards on the questions from the audience they really got going.

Hitchens

The biggest thing that stuck with me was that Pilate washed his hands so that he would be innocent of the blood of Christ but he needs Christ's blood in order to be innocent.

How to make your mom cry

In a good way that is. I showed this to my mom and she laughed till she cried. Then I showed it to my dad and she cried again. She must have liked it . :) Hopefully I'm able to remember Scripture verses better than Barney memorizes the preamble!

Barney is just great isn't he?

Photoshoot

I did a photoshoot for some friends with 4 beautiful daughters. I had a wonderful time, though I was absolutely freezing. You can't tell (I hope) but it was really cold that afternoon.

This patch of sunlight was perfectly enchanting.

A highly edited photo :)

Evangeline's Bridal Shower

Earlier this month ago we hosted a bridal shower for our dear friend Evangeline.  We framed the invitation on the front door encircled by a pink blossom wreath to greet guests as they arrived.

The wedding invitation.

Party favors for everyone which we had fun assembling, complete with a little pearl.

Red velvet cupcakes. We made sure Evangeline got the one with the R on top.

There's just something about sunlight on rose petals.  Exquisite.

The bride-to-be listening to some words of exhortation.

friends

Mrs. B gave a quick little devotion about the rooms in a house and what they signify in a Christian family.

She was very excited about her apron with her new name on it which we gave her. :)

Reading many sweet notes from friends
